Foreword

You may notice word usage in these pages that’s been largely abandoned. It’s not a mistake or an oversight. I continue to use it because it’s logical and sensible, and developed for good reason.

I still use “Web site” instead of “website,” “e-mail” instead of “email,” “Internet” instead of “internet,” and several other usages abandoned by the majority.

All the preceding examples point to a tend toward nothing more or less than laziness. People don’t want to take the extra fraction of a second to press the Shift key, the hyphen key, or the space bar. I still take the time.

If I were writing or editing for a client, of course, I’d use whatever style that client preferred. For myself, I’ll use my own style.
